Shilajit is a two-thousand year old Ayurvedic remedy used for various health ailments. It is a sticky resin-like substance that is collected from the Himalayan region of the world.

The name Shilajit comes from the Sanskrit word which means ‘destroyer of weakness’. It is a complex mixture of organic and inorganic compounds, composed of sterols, triterpenoid saponins, amino acids, proteins, vitamins and minerals.

If you have never heard of Shilajit before, then you have been missing out on a really important piece of Ayurvedic knowledge. There are a lot of different health benefits that come from the use of this herb.

These benefits include rejuvenating the body and increasing longevity. Combine this herb with your dieting routine to see the most benefits that it has to offer.

Shilajit comes in a number of forms – resin, powder, capsule, liquid, and more. Each form is unique in its formation, purity, and dosage. Because of this, these forms can also vary in price. This article will break down the different forms of Shilajit and how much they cost.

Resin, liquid and powder forms tend to be the most expensive, while capsules, tablets and dry drops are usually the least expensive. This is because the former is higher quality and less processed than the ladder.

Shilajit in the resin and powder forms tend to be the most expensive, ranging from around $0.50-$3.00 per gram. These forms are known for their purity, but are less convenient to consume than the other offerings. Shilajit capsules run from about $10-$30 per bottle, and the liquid and dry Shilajit drops are around $0.50-$1.50 per drop.

Obviously outliers exist for the various forms, but these ranges cover the most popular brands of Shilajit supplements.

Price For Each Form of Shilajit

As mentioned, Shilajit can be consumed in a number of forms. These various forms are each sold at different price points.

All of these prices differ based on the purity of the Shilajit and the country it originates from (Malaysia, Indonesia, and India).

Shilajit from Indonesia and Malaysia is typically of a higher quality and is slightly more expensive than the Shilajit from India.

If you decide to order Shilajit online, you’ll want to ensure you’re getting real Shilajit, and not one of the many counterfeit versions currently flooding the market.

Do some brand research before committing to an order! So how much does each form cost?

Resin

The price of Shilajit resin is around $0.50-$3.00 per gram. Price range is between $25-$90.

It is one of the least expensive forms of Shilajit on the market, because of the simplicity of its form. The range in price per gram primarily depends on the region it is extracted from, as well as the purity of the resin. Resin is also relatively common for many retailers, especially in the Amazon marketplace. Be sure to look into the brand of Shilajit resin you’re buying to ensure its authenticity!

To consume the resin form of Shilajit, it is recommended to mix it in with a hot beverage. You can simply add it to your tea or coffee each morning. The resinous pieces will yield a thick, muddy texture in your beverage.

Powder

The price of Shilajit powder is also around $0.50-$2.50 per gram. Price range is between $25-$80.

Similar to resin, the price of powders of Shilajit depends on the region it comes from and the purity of the Shilajit. Because powder is more commonly found like resin, it is typically available to the public at a similar price point.

It also gives consumers a larger selection of products of Shilajit, as there are more brands making powder than resin.

The powder form is best mixed in with water or milk, and can make a tasty and healthy addition to your morning smoothie. Some people also incorporate it into their cooking!

Capsules/Tablets

The price of Shilajit capsules range from around $10-$50 per bottle, which usually contains 60-100 capsules.

Once again, there is a large range in this market because of the quality of Shilajit tablets that brands are offering. Shilajit capsules are preferred by many because of the convenience.

They are easy to swallow and there’s no need to take time to prepare or clean up after taking Shilajit. This form is most popular among travelers and those who tend to be more nomadic.

For more serious users, they will use one form of Shilajit at home, and have a reserve set of capsules for convenience when they’re on the road.

Dry and Liquid Drops

The price of Shilajit drops are around $0.50-$1.00 per dry drop, but at the higher end of the spectrum, we see $1.00-$2.00 per liquid drop. Price range is between $15-$70+.

The best part about Shilajit drops is that they are portable. They can be carried around in water bottles or used in glasses of water anywhere.

The only con is that they are so small that accidental spillage is easy, causing some to lose the product rather than use it all up.

Why Is Shilajit So Expensive?

The main reasons that Shilajit supplements are expensive is because of the rarity of the ingredients, the tedious process to extract it, and the consumer demand.

These factors lead to a limited supply and a high demand. Shilajit is unique in that it is rare to come across, and the only way to extract it is through sourcing high-quality roots.

It is also very expensive to transport and handle because of its weight and incredibly sticky nature. However, the Shilajit industry has grown significantly in recent decades, especially in the western world.

Because of this, suppliers are finding cheaper and cheaper ways to get high quality Shilajit in the hands of consumers.

Which Form Is The Cheapest And Most Expensive?

Each form of Shilajit ranges significantly in price, with quite a bit of overlap between them.

Typically, Shilajit resin and powders forms tend to be the cheapest, while the capsule and drop (liquid and dry) forms run the most expensive.

This is primarily due to the extra handling/packaging that is required for Shilajit in capsule and drop form, versus the more natural and ready forms of Shilajit resin and powder.

If you’re looking to save money while still purchasing a high potency form of Shilajit, the resin and powder forms might be the way to go.

Personally, I am willing to sacrifice convenience for a lower price and more natural form of the supplement.
